Alright first off WOW! Great good on this! I really like the German Shepherd here, fall season I love so I fell in love with this art! First from my experience at viewing art this is traditional art? You can call me AJ aka art judge and I think this art is wonderful! I', going to go over the positive and negative at my viewing.

Positive:

The name is very good with this art, the coloring in the dog, the detail in the hair, face, nose, eyes, leaves, the tree, grass, the sky, clouds, the detail in the face just is very good I've seen art like this before but this one really punches in the detail very well, the pose also (when I draw art I have to look at when, how and where am I going to placing this drawing before I draw it, and from this art I think you did that very well.

Negative:

The shape of the face, look to the left ear and look about 1 inch down and you see no eye (now I know in some drawings like this there will be no other eye either on the left or right) but this here isn't any others that I was talking about this one here needs just a little bit of that other eye to show more realism into this art (if you take a short look at my Wolf Sketch I drew on my homepage you can get a idea of what I'm talking about), also the nose is bigger than the area on the dog than it should be.

All in all I have to say there is more good than bad in some ways. I really just enjoyed looking at this drawing, but I did find some negatives in it. Now I don't want to be rude but from the negatives above you should get an idea of what I talking about. But I think your a very good artist! Great job!

first of all- wowowowow this is so great! really glad to see realism from you again 8) //takes a moment to fangirl

anyways so. let me start with the background? because I totally don't know anything about realism really x,D um. but I'll try! anyways the tree looks really out of place with everything else- especially the trunk. I mean it looks really great- but the style of painting is a bit stylized- more the trunk than the leaves, but nevertheless... the leaves on the tree look pretty good though, maybe they could reach farther down and cover the branches a bit more? the branches of the tree look a tiny bit too uniform and 'perfect' rather than realistic- which would perfectly fit a more stylized painting (which would be awesome to see from you, but I guess.. it wouldn't be likely 8( you should try it out sometime though!)

anyways. so- I like the grass- but maybe (especially further back, where it's lighter) it could have more variation?? maybe some grass blades floating up and flying out of the wind, as well! <3 since it seems to be windy (with the leaves and everything)

the floating leaves though; I think you could make with some tutorials or something- maybe you could've experimented a bit with matte painting here and used photos of leaves instead of painting? 8) I think that would've been really cool! also another thing- maybe you could have placed some of the leaves on a rule-of-thirds grid (maybe you have done this, I don't know //shot)

umm now- the clouds! wowow I am totally in love with the one in the middle *w* you totally need to tell me how to paint clouds sometime! like seriously it's so perfect in every aspect??? I fucking love the colour there and gosh just lkadngasdognaiengasdkg

so.. now... the actual subject! let me start by saying the eye- gosh- it's so realistic! <3 you really did a good job with it hnngng <3 think the nose could have used more tones though- it almost looks as if it's just one colour with the highlights (think you could have made those a little whiter and brighter too)

The fur is great, but some places it leaves a little to be desired. I know you said 'halfassed' in the description, but.. 8( anyways I like most of the facial area.. but the chest fur looks really scribbly and unnatural! and the backlights, too- (I'm talking about the tree as well) looks a little bit unnatural- and on the chest fur looks a bit scribbly (which may be fine in other styles, but this is realism). Maybe, (for the backlighting) if I were you I'd have taken a big soft airbrush set to white on another layer and gently brushed some areas around? like you did here: [link]

also the tones you used in the fur doesn't have that much contrast- it looks just.. a little bit flat with a bunch of fur detail on it. maybe you could have exaggerated the shadows a bit more? (I know it's supposed to be a light atmosphere.. but..) Maybe you could have gone over the shadows on a multiply layer a bit more- I see that you have done this but maybe a little exaggeration would be useful? (maybe do so with textured brushes and crazy colours! <33)

anyways sorry for typing up like a wall of text here- I'll finish up by saying this is honestly GREAT and I'd love to see more realism from you! <33 seriously I can't stop staring at it, it's literally. delicious. the colours and the creamy baby blue and the orange hgnngngngngnasdlkasdnff rolls around fff

like gosh wow I could go on even longer about how amazing this is but that would take like 1349834029384023948 words and then that wouldn't be fun for anyone 8( //rambly as hell

I'm not an expert at realism, or art for that matter- or at being a critic, but.. those are my two cents!
